We need to consistently allow the Holy Spirit to search our
hearts and examine our motives in light of the standards of the Scripture. A
regular checkup is a valuable activity for every believer to seriously evaluate
their spiritual health in every area of life.
Desires
Colossians 3:5-7
3 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly
nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is
idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7 You used to walk in
these ways, in the life you once lived.
Psalms 37:4
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires
of your heart.
Relationships
1 Peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a
multitude of sins.
1 Peter 3:8-9
8 Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be
sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil
with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were
called so that you may inherit a blessing.
Forgiveness
Ephesians 4:31-32
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and
slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one
another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Mark 11:25-26
25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything
against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you
your trespasses. 26 “But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in
heaven forgive your trespasses.”
Money
Malachi 3:10
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be
food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will
not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you
will not have room enough for it.
Luke 6:38
Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed
down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with
the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Work
Ephesians 4:27-28
27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 He who has
been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with
his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.
Ephesians 6:5-7
5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear,
and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not
only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ,
doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were
serving the Lord, not men,
Church
Hebrews 10:25
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit
of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day
approaching.
1 Timothy 3:15
If I am delayed, you will know how people ought to
conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God,
the pillar and foundation of the truth.
