Discerned Sprits and brought judgment on people:
Acts 13:6-11
6 They traveled through the whole island until they came to
Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus,
7 who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The
proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to
hear the word of God.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means)
opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith.
9 Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy
Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said,
10 “You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything
that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never
stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?
11 Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to
be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun.”
Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking
someone to lead him by the hand.
Acts 16:18
She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so
troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus
Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.
1 Corinthians 4:18-21
18 Some of you have become arrogant, as if I were not coming
to you.
19 But I will come to you very soon, if the Lord is willing,
and then I will find out not only how these arrogant people are talking, but
what power they have.
20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of
power.
21 What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a whip, or in
love and with a gentle spirit?
1 Corinthians 5:5-6
5 hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may
be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.
6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little
yeast works through the whole batch of dough?
