How preached
Luke 24:49
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay
in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
Acts 1:4-8
4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave
them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father
promised, which you have heard me speak about.
5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be
baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
6 So when they met together, they asked him, “Lord, are you
at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or
dates the Father has set by his own authority.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on
you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 5:31-32
31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior
that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.
32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy
Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
1 Corinthians 2:1-5
1 When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence
or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except
Jesus Christ and him crucified.
3 I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much
trembling.
4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive
words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power,
5 so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on
God's power.
1 Corinthians 4:20
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.
Evangelism:
"If revival is being withheld from us it is because some
idol remains still enthroned; because we still insist in placing our reliance
in human schemes; because we still refuse to face the unchangeable truth that
'It is not by might, but by My Spirit." - Jonathan Goforth
