Foolishness
Proverbs 24:9
The schemes of folly are sin, and men detest a mocker.
Cursing rulers
Ecclesiastes 10:20
Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse
the rich in your bedroom, because a bird of the air may carry your words, and a
bird on the wing may report what you say.
Worry
Matthew 6:25-34
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your
life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is
not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or
reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you
not much more valuable than they?
27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his
life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the
lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his
splendor was dressed like one of these.
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the
field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not
much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or
‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your
heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow
will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
False accusations
Matthew 9:3-4
3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to
themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”
4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you
entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?
Matthew 12:24
24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It
is only by Beelzebub, the prince of demons that this fellow drives out demons.”
25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every
kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household
divided against itself will not stand.
Luke 5:21-23
21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began
thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can
forgive sins but God alone?”
22 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why
are you thinking these things in your hearts?
23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’
or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?
Luke 11:27
As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd
called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”
