Shining in Darkness

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe. — Philippians 2:14-15

We shouldn't be surprised that unbelievers around us have a different set of values than we do. After all, a star isn't surprised to find that it shines in the great expanse of darkness surrounding it. You see, a star and a disciple of Jesus share one basic purpose: shining our light in the darkness, no matter how great that darkness!

Mysteries of God’s Word

. Knowing Christ – Colossians 2:2
My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart  and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery  of God, namely, Christ,

. Life of Godliness – 1 Timothy 1:6
Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk.

. Truth of the Gospel – Ephesians 6:19
Pray also for me,  that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly  make known the mystery  of the gospel,

. Speaking in a Tongue – 1 Corinthians 14:2
For anyone who speaks in a tongue  does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them;  they utter mysteries  by the Spirit.

. Believer’s Transformation – 1 Corinthians 15:51
Listen, I tell you a mystery:  We will not all sleep,  but we will all be changed

Effect of High Price

I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD. — Hosea 2:19-20

God longed for Israel to be faithful to him. Despite the unfaithfulness in the past, God offered his people forgiveness and hope that they could be restored to relationship with him again. If God was willing to pay such an incredibly high price to do this, shouldn't we do the same with each other? But, let's go one step further; let's be faithful to each other and to God in the first place!
