Afflicting
the servants of God
Matthew
23:33-36
33 “You
snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?
34 Therefore
I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill
and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to
town.
35 And so
upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from
the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you
murdered between the temple and the altar.
36 I tell
you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.

Thessalonians 1:6-9
6 God is
just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you
7 and give
relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the
Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.
8 He will
punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
9 They will
be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the
Lord and from the majesty of his power
Sowing to
the flesh
Galatians
6:8
The one who
sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the
one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Revelation
21:8
But the
cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those
who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the
fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
Their sin
Romans 6:23
For the
wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
