Dreams of Scripture…Part 5

Diviners, of false things

Zechariah 10:2

The idols speak deceit, diviners see visions that lie; they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd.

Joseph of flight to Egypt

Matthew 2:13

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

Joseph of returning home

Matthew 2:19-20

19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

20  and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child's life are dead.”

Joseph of Herod

Matthew 2:22

The wise men of warning

Matthew 2:12

And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

Pilate’s wife, of Jesus

Matthew 27:19

While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”

Rely on Him

“Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we’re at our worst.”  Luke 6:35, The Message

God has proven himself as a faithful father. Now it falls to us to be trusting children. Let God give you what your family doesn’t. Let him fill the void others have left. Rely upon him for your affirmation and encouragement. – Max Lucado
