Believe Moses!

But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses,  on whom your hopes are set.    If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.    But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?” - John 5:45-47

Jesus is that great prophet like Moses that God had promised would come. However, Jesus is greater than Moses. The covenant that Jesus brought is greater than the covenant given through Moses. At the same time, Jesus fulfils the law of Moses.

Jesus teaches the heart of God that lies underneath the law of Moses. So, we look to the law as the way to bring us to a deeper appreciation of God's grace given us in Jesus (Galatians 3:26-29; Galatians 4:1-4). We can appreciate and admire Moses, but we set our faith and our hopes on Jesus, God's Son!

Life and Peace

The mind governed by the flesh is death,  but the mind governed by the Spirit is life  and peace. - Romans 8:6

What do you want from your limited days on earth? Among other things, you probably want to enjoy life and have every moment of it bring joy and peace. There is only one way for this kind of life to happen: The Holy Spirit must be in you, must lead you, and must govern you.

All other paths to peace are temporary. Some are simply mirages: tempting deceptions to lure us to what is really death. Life and peace are found by pursuing God, trusting Jesus, and being led and governed by the Holy Spirit.

Devotion and Love to Christ

What does your lifestyle reveal about the depth of your devotion to Christ—can others see it clearly in your conversation, character, and conduct? And if you ever feel disappointed that your love for Christ seems small, open the Word of God and obey whatever He says. He will abide with you and disclose Himself, thereby increasing your capacity to love and know Him more.

Thought

. This joy in God is not like any pleasure found in physical or intellectual satisfaction.  Nor is it such as a friend experiences in the presence of a friend.  But, if we are to use any such analogy, it is more like the eye rejoicing in light.
