Philippians 4:19

And my God will meet all your needs  according to the riches of his glory  in Christ Jesus.

1.    The Gracious Promiser – “My God”

2.    The Gracious Promise – “Shall”

3.    The Good Supply – “Supply”

4.    The gift that is Abundant – “All”

5.    The gain that is personal – “Your”

6.    The gladdened Patient – “Need”

7.    The Granary of Plenty – “According”

God of Surprises!

Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on  Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” - Acts 9:17

Acts 9 tells the story of one of the church's greatest enemies becoming one of its most passionate leaders. No one could have expected this complete turnaround to happen, especially not Saul of Tarsus. (Saul later becomes known as the apostle Paul, using his Roman name when his mission was primarily among Gentiles.) Emboldened by the Holy Spirit and seeing the evidence of the Spirit in Saul's life, the early followers of Jesus overcame Satan's barriers to see grace triumph over their enemies.

For Saul (Paul) to become a great leader in this movement of grace and good news, he had to be filled, inspired, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, which is exactly what our verse today tells us was about to happen: Saul was about to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and the world would be changed by the Spirit's work through him!

Thoughts

"It is not as a child that I believe and confess Jesus Christ. My hosanna is born of a furnace of doubt." - Fyodor Dostoevsky
"There is a Moment in each Day that Satan cannot find." - William Blake

"God gives us just enough to seek him, and never enough to fully find Him. To do more would inhibit our freedom, and our freedom is very dear to God."
