Another Tree of Life

Proverbs 15:4

The soothing tongue  is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

Four Contrasted Classes

Proverbs 15:6-8

The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings ruin.
The lips of the wise spread knowledge, but the hearts of fools are not upright.

The Lord detests the sacrifice  of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

Good and Evil Hearts

Proverbs 15:13-15

A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit. The discerning heart seeks knowledge but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly. All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.

Luke 9:23

Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." —

Offering ourselves to God isn't easy because it means we must first die to our own selfish will. Like Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane, we face our own cross and must cry out, "Not my will, dear Father, but your will be done!"

Four Well known facts of God and Man

Proverbs 15:11-12

Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed. Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense ,but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.

Four Contrasted things of God and Man

Proverbs 15:9-10

With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbours, but through knowledge the righteous escape. When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.
